Critics delighted with director Todd Phillips' new Joker: The movie is pure magic

Joker filmmaker Todd Phillips first screened for the first time on October 31 at the Venice Film Festival, and since then critics have said: "The movie is pure magic!"

Film critics who had the opportunity to review the film before others lightly concluded that the new Joker was one of this year's best films.

One of the main reasons for so much delight is actor Joaquin Phoenix who perfectly embodied the infamous hero, mentally unstable comedian Arthur Fleck, which was no easy task.

He worked on the laughing stock of the new Joker for months and lost 23 pounds for the movie.

Joaquin Phoenix later explained that it turned out that his weight loss, in a short period of time, began to affect his psychology.

"You're starting to lose your mind," commented Phoenix, who plays a poor clown in dirty and criminal Gotham City in the early 1980s.

Due to brain damage, Fleck spends some time in an institution where they control his pathological laughter, which most often occurs at inappropriate moments.

He dreams of a stand-up comedian career and wants to be a part of a popular show hosted by Murray Franklin (Robert De Niro), but after finally being given the chance, he becomes the subject of ridicule. He was turned into a Joker by a ruthless society.

"What (Arthur Fleck) was to me at the beginning of filming was completely different from what he was at the end. He was constantly evolving. I never experienced anything like this," Phoenix explains.

Director Todd Phillips said that lack of empathy in the world is one of the main messages of the film.
