Copyright at ULTRABASIC

ULTRABASIC respects creators. Every garment we ship is printed under a clear license from the artist whose work appears on it. We expect the same respect in return — both from our designers and from anyone interacting with our marketplace.

The three rights at play

COPYRIGHT

Protects an original work fixed in a tangible form — a drawing, a photograph, a poem, a song. Owning a copy doesn't grant the right to reproduce or sell it.

TRADEMARK

Protects words, symbols and logos that identify the source of goods or services (brand names, sports clubs, music groups). Using them without permission is infringement.

PUBLICITY RIGHTS

Protects a person's name, likeness and signature. You can't use someone's image to sell a product without their consent — especially not public figures.

Fair use is narrow

Copying part of a song, film, book or photograph for a t-shirt is rarely fair use, even when transformed. If you're not sure, you almost certainly don't qualify. Don't risk it on our shelves.

Spotted infringement?

Email care@ultrabasic.com with a link to the listing and proof of ownership (registration certificate, contract, dated original file). We respond within 48 hours and remove confirmed infringements.

ULTRABASIC complies with the EU Copyright Directive and the U.S. DMCA. Repeat infringers lose access to our marketplace.
